Sept. 26: 30th Annual Choptank Heritage Skipjack Race. Skipjacks will be moored at Long Wharf and along the bulkhead by the county building before and after the race. This is the third race in Maryland’s triple crown of skipjack races. Boats will have competed at the Deal Island Labor Day race and at the race at the Sandy Point Maryland Seafood Festival. Activities start with a boat parade at 10am led by the skipjack Nathan of Dorchester. The race starts at 11am near the lighthouse on Long Wharf. The floating dock and Long Wharf parking lot offer excellent close-up views of the skipjacks as they start and finish their race. Food trucks and on shore activities will be available at this free event.
