The St Michaels Community Center (SMCC) is hosting a free Block Party, Saturday, August 8th from 11am to 2pm. Activities include face painting, a DJ, basketball shooting drills, a dance competition, sidewalk art, a children’s book give-away, advanced paper airplanes, and multiple Minute-to-Win-It contests. Vendors such as Appleseed Books and The Talbot Free Library will be there, as well as the Judy Center, the YMCA and Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. The Health Department will administer free health screenings on site. The food offerings include Chef Mike’s fresh Bay Chips, piping hot popcorn, and a sundae bar.

Summertime means it is time for one of the area’s most popular events – the Eastern Shore Threshermen & Collectors Assoc., Inc.’s 66th annual Wheat Threshing, Steam & Gas Engine Show will be held August 7, 8, 9, 2026. The showgrounds are located on Rt. 313 between Denton and Federalsburg, Maryland.

Building African American Minds, Inc. (BAAM) announced it has secured two major state grants totaling $594,140 to support the demolition of three condemned properties at 406 Moton Street and advance the expansion of the BAAM Campus in Easton, Maryland.

Families across Talbot County are invited to visit the newly opened playground at Home Run Baker at 4200 Main Street, Trappe, MD.
The new playground was made possible through funding provided by Maryland DNR Program Open Space (POS) and represents Talbot County’s continued investment in recreational amenities that serve children and families throughout the community.

The Easton Economic Development Corporation (Easton EDC) announced that downtown Easton will host a Vintage & Antique Markets Day on Saturday, August 8, 2026, inviting locals and visitors to explore one of the Eastern Shore’s largest concentrations of antique, vintage, and consignment shops — within a walkable historic downtown and throughout Easton.

Talbot County Government officially opened Station 95, a new emergency medical services station in Cordova that will improve emergency response times for residents in the northern portion of Talbot County while expanding the County’s emergency preparedness capabilities.
