Chesapeake Fire & Ice Festival Returns to Easton

The Easton EDC, in partnership with presenting sponsor Preston Automotive Group, is excited to announce the return of the two-day, spectacular family-friendly ice carving festival on Friday, February 16, 5-9pm & Saturday, February 17, 11am-9pm, 2024. Larger-than-life sculptures made of solid ice will be on display throughout the historic downtown. Activities will include live demonstrations of ice carvings, live music, and a free outdoor ice skating rink sponsored in part by The Arc Central Chesapeake Region. Friday night will feature a Sizzling Sounds Pavilion on Harrison Street, kicking off the weekend with a lively performance from local favorite rock band, Saved by Zero! This year’s line-up also features Cascading Carlos, who will be juggling fire and other props Friday night and Saturday afternoon in Thompson Park. There is no charge to enjoy the sculptures or enjoy the performances and all venues are accessible.

Chesapeake Film Festival and the Talbot County Free Library Present a Special FREE Screening of the 2023 Student Awards Showcase

The Chesapeake Film Festival, now in its 16th year, will present a special screening of its 2023 Student Awards Showcase at the Talbot County Free Library on Saturday, January 6, 2024, beginning at 12 noon. Selections include environmental, documentary and animated shorts from students representing American University, George Washington University’s Corcoran School of Arts and Design, Towson State University, and Williamsburg Middle School in Arlington, VA. Filmmakers include Jess Wiegandt, James Mertz, Jeremiah Battle, Amin El Siwi and Phil Bouknight, Mason Mirabile, Ryan Wilton Zlatniski, Christina Woo, Kristian Panash Chitate, Wyatt Carson, Kat Navarro and Colman Hallinan.

Anthony’s in Oxford Hosts Monday Mangia to Benefit Talbot Interfaith Shelter

When Anthony Guessregen, owner of Anthony’s Ristorante Italiano in Oxford, met Laura Richeson, Director of Development and Marketing for Talbot Interfaith Shelter (TIS), he was immediately intrigued with the organization and its mission. After learning that one of his employees and her family had received life-changing assistance from TIS, he was inspired to do something to help ensure that more of our neighbors experiencing homelessness would have access to the resources they need to regain stability. Anthony decided to host a fundraiser to benefit Talbot Interfaith Shelter.

Local Family Achieves Success Through Talbot Interfaith Shelter

Talbot Interfaith Shelter (TIS) is much more than a homeless shelter. Every guest that walks through its doors participates in TIS’ S4 Program, which is designed to guide local families and individuals step-by-step from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Each “S” represents a phase of the program: Shelter, Stability, Support, and Success. Guests will achieve many milestones as they rebuild their lives, but they all have their eye on the last “S.” Success means they are able to live independently once again.
