CASA of the Mid-Shore serves children under the protection of the Circuit Courts in Talbot, Dorchester, Queen Anne’s and Kent Counties. The children have been abused or neglected and need a consistent, trusted advocate to stand by their side. Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers can make a world of difference by speaking up for local children’s needs, safety, and permanence.

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum will host its annual Charity Boat Auction on Saturday, Aug. 31, inviting guests to its waterfront campus to bid on donated vessels of all shapes and sizes in support of its mission.

The Town of Easton is proud to announce the launch of the Easton Interactive Traffic Dashboard (EITD), a new web-based interface that allows easy access to traffic data from local law enforcement agencies, including citations and crashes, from 2018 to the present. The Easton Interactive Traffic Dashboard is live now and is available to the public for use on the Easton Police Department website at https://eastonmd.gov/196/Police.

Mid Shore Behavioral Health, Inc. (MSBH), in collaboration with the health departments of Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot Counties, is proud to announce the fifth annual “The Mid-Shore is Going Purple Together” event. Scheduled for Saturday, September 14th, from 10:30am to 1pm at James T. Park in Caroline County, Going Purple Together (GPT) offers a day of community unity with food, raffle items, music, games, and a focus on supporting recovery from substance misuse. Jessica Tuel, Director of Behavioral Health for the Caroline County Local Addiction Authority stated, “I am very excited for this event to be in Caroline County for the community and the professionals that are in this work. Both are doing wonderful things to end the substance use epidemic in our small county.”

The Oxford Business Association has been supporting local nonprofits since 2007 with an auction of one-of-a-kind painted Picket Fences. Local artists have volunteered their time and talents to create these 4-picket sections of the iconic Oxford Picket fence, depicting life on the Eastern Shore. We are pleased this year to welcome several new artists and organizations to the project. The fences will be on display throughout the town of Oxford for the entire summer, through early October. This year there are 11 fences, and each was created in support of a Talbot County nonprofit. On October 19th, the fences will be sold at auction at the Oxford Community Center. All proceeds from each fence will go to their respective nonprofit.

Tred Avon Players is thrilled to announce its next production, The Hallelujah Girls, a comedy written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten; and directed by Sammie Adams-Mercer. It runs August 15 – 25 at the Oxford Community Center.

For most Oxford and Talbot County residents, the Cooperative Oxford Laboratory and its operation is a mystery. A new exhibit opening on August 10 at the Oxford Museum will provide answers to these questions and more.

Talbot Paramedic Foundation and Team Trace have announced the selection of SaveHeart by HeartNation as their outdoor AED cabinet partner for the Talbot CARES (Cardiac Arrest Rescue and Emergency Station) program. Talbot CARES is among a select group of Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) programs making automated external defibrillators (AEDs) available throughout the community.

On Saturday, July 27 from 2 to 9pm, WHCP-FM, Mid-Shore Community Radio known for Music Discovery and NPR is celebrating its first year of being a full power 14,000-watt station on 91.7 FM – and its 8th year as an independent, local, grass-roots community radio station with an all-day Music Festival and Fundraiser at Oxford Community Center in Oxford, Maryland.

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum will mark Independence Day by hosting Big Band Night on Saturday, July 6. CBMM’s Welcome Center opens at 6pm for this annual celebration that invites the community to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets for an evening of music, dancing, and fireworks along the Miles River.
