Come One, Come All!

The St Michaels Community Center (SMCC) is hosting a free Block Party, Saturday, August 8th from 11am to 2pm. Activities include face painting, a DJ, basketball shooting drills, a dance competition, sidewalk art, a children’s book give-away, advanced paper airplanes, and multiple Minute-to-Win-It contests. Vendors such as Appleseed Books and The Talbot Free Library will be there, as well as the Judy Center, the YMCA and Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. The Health Department will administer free health screenings on site. The food offerings include Chef Mike’s fresh Bay Chips, piping hot popcorn, and a sundae bar.
“This is a great event for the kids in the neighborhood and for St Michaels and Bay Hundred families,” said Val Prochaska, Volunteer Coordinator at SMCC. “Who doesn’t like free food, music and games? It’s great fun for grandparents, as well as for parents who want to get their kids off their screens on a lovely summer day. I know I am looking forward to the Block Party.”
“As the social service hub for the Bay Hundred, we want to make sure resources are accessible for our friends and neighbors. This annual event puts all the resources in one space while providing a fun, festive party as the summer winds down,” says Amy Horne, Executive Director.
