Healthy Tilghman 5K/ 1 Mile June 1st

Was exercising part of your New Year’s resolution? Or are you looking to get fitter before bathing suit season? Or you’re just looking for a morning out in the fresh air surrounded by beauty, nature, and history. Whatever your motivation, the Healthy Tilghman 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk is for you!
On Saturday, June 1st , runners and walkers will gather on picturesque Tilghman Island in Talbot County for this chip-timed event. The course will start and finish at Black Walnut Point towards the southern end of the island. This unique location is surrounded by water and located near where skipjacks once brought their harvest of oysters and crabs onto shore. Participants will head from the fishing area at Black Walnut Point straight out past historic St. John’s Chapel, into Bar Neck village, and back. Along the way, enjoy views of the Chesapeake Bay and its coves, historic buildings, eagles and osprey nests, and more.
This is one of the flattest courses you’ll ever run and has something for everyone. For the experienced runner, it’s a great race to strive for a personal record (PR). For the beginner, it’s a great entry-point race to run or walk. Awards for the 5K will be given to those with the top times overall (male, female and masters) and in their age group (first through third places). Snacks and an opportunity to learn more about area health-oriented organizations will be available after the race.
Proceeds from the event support Healthy Tilghman, an outreach of the Tilghman Methodist Church and For All Seasons Behavioral Health and Rape Crisis Center, Inc. This community collaboration supports the strengthening of healthy minds, bodies and spirits while bringing health-oriented programs and services, including counseling, to Tilghman Island.
