A Community-Wide Celebration of the Nation’s Semiquincentennial
Multi-Week Festivities from Memorial Day Through July 5
Honor America’s 250th Anniversary

The St. Michaels Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is proud to announce St. Michaels Celebrates America 250, a community-wide series of events running from Memorial Day through July 5 in honor of the United States’ 250th anniversary.
With centerpiece events anchored around Flag Day, the celebration invites residents, businesses, and visitors to come together in patriotic spirit for a season filled with music, history, community pride, and family-friendly activities.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
Clean Up and Dress Up the Town
Saturday, June 6 | 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
St. Michaels Library Parking Lot
The celebration begins with a community beautification effort encouraging residents and businesses to decorate St. Michaels in classic red, white, and blue. Volunteers will gather to spruce up the town and help create a festive and welcoming atmosphere throughout the community. Cleanup efforts will focus on Talbot Street from Mulberry Street to Mill Street, concentrating on the area between the curb and storefronts. Primary tasks will include removing weeds from sidewalks and brickwork, clearing debris, and refreshing public-facing spaces throughout downtown.

Concert in the Park: Special Edition
Thursday, June 11 | 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Muskrat Park
Presented by the St. Michaels Community Center and the St. Michaels Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, this patriotic edition of the beloved summer concert series will feature a premier performance by the United States Naval Academy Band Electric Brigade.
This free, family-friendly evening promises live music, community fellowship, and patriotic spirit under the open sky.

Parks & Poles – Historical Walking Tour
Saturday, June 13 | 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Begins at St. Mary’s Square
Explore St. Michaels through a self-guided walking tour featuring 13 stops representing the original 13 colonies. The route winds through Muskrat Park, Hollis Park, Frederick Douglass Park, Bradley Park, Back Creek Park, the St. Michaels Nature Trail, and St. Mary’s Square, with interpretive stations highlighting local history, Maryland heritage, and the significance of Flag Day.
Along the route, visitors can enjoy several special community stops, including the St. Michaels Branch – Talbot County Free Library featuring Talbot County Celebrates the Declaration of Independence with an augmented reality experience starring George Washington and Thomas Jefferson; the Women’s Club of St. Michaels lemonade and iced tea stand supporting scholarships and clubhouse maintenance; and the Classic Motor Museum of St. Michaels Americana-themed Cars & Coffee community open house at 906 Talbot Street featuring live music, a food truck, and classic cars.
The tour is designed for individuals, families, and groups and will remain available year-round, with expanded programming on June 13.
Organized in collaboration with the St. Michaels Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, the St. Michaels Museum, the MidShore Constitution Alliance, and St. Michaels High School, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Flag Day Picnic & Boat Parade — MAIN EVENT
Sunday, June 14 – Flag Day | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum
The centerpiece of the celebration is a FREE, family-friendly day of festivities at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum featuring live music, classic cars, field games, plein air painters, and the 1st Annual Daytime St. Michaels Miles River Boat Parade.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the United States Army Reserve 78th Army Band (Fort Dix, NJ). Their 9×9 Ensemble will perform throughout the day at the museum gazebo.
Activities Include:
• Classic Cars on display (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
• St. Michaels Art League / Plein Air Painters (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
• Chesapeake Independent Blues Reenactors (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
• YMCA Field Day Games (10:0 AM – 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
• Live Music by the U.S. Army Reserve 78th Army Band 9×9 Ensemble
• Boat Parade (1:00 PM – 2:00 PM)
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own food, drinks, chairs, blankets, and picnic essentials to enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the museum grounds with family and friends.

Community Decorating Contest & Voting
Running Throughout the Celebration
The St. Michaels Business Association invites residents and visitors to explore town, enjoy participating businesses decorated for the semiquincentennial, and vote for their favorites via QR codes displayed throughout town.
Each vote enters participants into a drawing for a local business gift basket, with the winner announced on July 5. No purchase is necessary, and participants do not need to be present to win.
