Anthony’s in Oxford Hosts Monday Mangia to Benefit Talbot Interfaith Shelter

When Anthony Guessregen, owner of Anthony’s Ristorante Italiano in Oxford, met Laura Richeson, Director of Development and Marketing for Talbot Interfaith Shelter (TIS), he was immediately intrigued with the organization and its mission. After learning that one of his employees and her family had received life-changing assistance from TIS, he was inspired to do something to help ensure that more of our neighbors experiencing homelessness would have access to the resources they need to regain stability. Anthony decided to host a fundraiser to benefit Talbot Interfaith Shelter.
Monday Mangia is coming up on Monday, January 8th, at 6:00pm at Anthony’s Ristorante Italiano (26342 Oxford Road). This is a perfect event for those looking to kick off the new year by giving back to the community. Ticketholders will be treated to a delicious authentic Italian buffet featuring Caesar Salad, Penne Vodka, Eggplant Parmigiana, Chicken Cacciatore, and Lasagna, with Tiramisu and Cannolis for dessert.
In addition to dinner, attendees will learn about TIS’ mission to provide Shelter, Stability, Support, and a path to Success for local families and individuals in need, and will have further opportunities to support the organization’s efforts by bidding on a variety of unique items. These include fine bourbon and wine, tickets to a high-end wine tasting dinner, and once-in-a-lifetime trips to destinations such as Costa Rica, St. Thomas, and Scotland!
Advance tickets are $50 and can be purchased at talbotinterfaithshelter.org/community-events. Tickets may also be available at the door for $60. However, seating is limited, and it is recommended that those wishing to attend reserve their seats ahead of time.
With a steadfast commitment to his craft, Chef Anthony Guessregen has devoted 49 years to the culinary trade. Anthony’s culinary style is a reflection of his diverse experiences, blending the richness of his New York Roots with the tranquility of the haven he found in Oxford, MD. Each dish is imbued with his unwavering dedication and passion for flavors that tell a story. Anthony’s Ristorante Italiano is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Talbot Interfaith Shelter is a homeless shelter and transitional housing program based in Easton, MD and serving the five counties of the Mid-Shore (Talbot, Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Annes). They have developed the innovative and comprehensive S4 Program (Shelter, Stability, Support, Success), which is designed to guide local families and individuals from homelessness to self-sufficiency.
Guests begin at one of TIS’ two neighboring shelter homes – Easton’s Promise for families and Evelyn’s Place for single men and women – where they receive rigorous case management and attend life skills training while they work to attain financial stability. Once they are ready, guests move into one of TIS’ off-site transitional apartments, where they continue to receive case management while their portion of rent gradually increases until they can sustain all of their expenses.
