Beat the January Blahs with Chesapeake Forum

After the last sip of champagne has been swallowed, Chesapeake Forum will welcome in the New Year with classes that will take you outside in search of winter birds, on a journey to the Arctic Circle without leaving home, or on the edge of your seat learning about Maryland’s extraordinary constitutional crisis. First up on the roster is Wayne Bell’s extremely popular Birds and Birding on the Eastern Shore, Part 1: Our Wondrous Winter Waterfowl starting January 18th. There will be two hybrid (in person at the Easton Family YMCA, ZOOM or recording) sessions, January 18th and February 22nd from 2:30 – 4pm and five field trips on January 22, 29, February 5, 12 and 19th at varying times and places. $70. On Wednesday, January 24th bundle up for Katherine Marconi’s Journey to the Arctic Circle. Here’s a hot topic to warm up a cold winter day When Democracy Fell: Maryland’s Civil War Constitutional Crisis. Author Paul Callahan, takes us on a wild journey of another kind through a time during the Civil War when Maryland’s constitution was suspended, the state legislature imprisoned, and newspaper editors, generals and judges arrested. Here’s another revolution but this one is happening behind the wheel – electric cars. Join James Scoggins on Thursday, January 25th when he lifts the hood in EVs: The Transportation Revolution. What would winter be without a good book. Lynn Randle continues her popular Books with Friends on the last Thursday of each month. In January, the group will be discussing Be Mine, by Richard Ford.
