On Thursday, November 21, from 5:30 to 7:30, the Tilghman Watermen’s Museum Speaker Series will host Jay Fleming at the Tilghman Island Volunteer Fire Department, 5979 Tilghman Island Road. Jay will speak about his photography of the Chesapeake Bay.

The YMCA of the Chesapeake is pleased to announce the return of its annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28. The 2024 event will be hosted virtually and in person at seven locations across the Eastern Shore.

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum will celebrate the festive season by welcoming exhibitors from across the country to its waterfront campus on Saturday, Nov. 23, for the Holiday Edition of the Eastern Shore Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival.

Bayside Quilters of the Eastern Shore is holding the third annual Handmade Market at the Trappe Volunteer Fire Company, 4001 Powell Ave., Trappe, MD on Friday, November 15, 3pm-7pm and Saturday, November 16, 9:30am to 3pm. All items are handmade and ready for the holidays. You’ll find gifts, home decor and quilts of all sizes and price range.

The Women & Girls Fund of the Mid-Shore, a component fund of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, is now accepting grant proposals from IRS-designated non-profit organizations for programs addressing the needs of local women and girls. Completed applications must be received by Friday, November 1, 2024. Grant recipients will be announced in April 2025.

Come experience the changing of the seasons at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) by participating in one of our Guided Birding tours in the fall of 2024. Fall birding tours at the refuge highlight the returning migratory waterfowl. Don’t miss the opportunity to observe our diverse array of feathered friends, from woodpeckers and wading birds to numerous species of waterfowl and raptors, including the bald eagle. Prior bird knowledge is not required! Expert birders Terry Allen and Ron Ketter will help you identify and learn about the many species of birds that inhabit the refuge.

The Bay’s favorite bivalve takes the spotlight at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s OysterFest on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10am-4pm.
At OysterFest, you’re invited to enjoy oysters served a variety of ways, along with other local fare, craft beer, and spirits, plus fun for the whole family with live music on two stages, an oyster stew competition, a full schedule of demonstrations and presentations, children’s activities, and more.

This year’s 27th annual Academy Art Museum Craft Show will be held on October 26 & 27 with a Preview Event on October 25. The show will feature a wide array of juried exhibitors, including established artists, returning favorites from years past and many more artists new to the show. Participating artists create work in all media including Basketry, Ceramics, Fiber – Decorative, Fiber – Wearable, Glass, Jewelry, Leather, Metal, Mixed Media, Sculpture and Wood.
