Talbot County Invites Community to Celebrate Talbot Day 2025 with Poster Contest and Citizen & Service Awards

Talbot County is gearing up for the 2025 Talbot Day Celebration, set to take place on Friday, April 25, 2025. Talbot Day marks the official birthday of the county, and the celebration will include a variety of events leading up to the big day, such as the Talbot Day Poster Contest, the Talbot Citizen & Service Awards, Talbot County prize pack giveaways, Talbot Trivia, and more.

Dr. Joyce Cummings Hogan Memorial Scholarship

The Friends of St. John’s Chapel have created a scholarship in memory of Dr. Joyce Cummings Hogan and her belief in the equal opportunity for all to better themselves through education. This four-year scholarship in the amount of $15,000 per year will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who attended Tilghman Elementary School who will be a full-time freshman attending a four-year college in the fall of 2025. Dr. Hogan was born in Talbot County, Maryland and graduated from Tilghman Elementary and Easton High School. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Towson State and Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of MD College Park. Dr. Hogan went on to become an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and then a Professor of Psychology at the University of Tulsa where she helped develop a Ph.D. program in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.

Tilghman Watermen’s Museum Scholarship Available

The Tilghman Watermen’s Museum is pleased to announce the availability of their academic scholarship application for 2025. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving Talbot County high school senior who graduated from the Tilghman Elementary School, or is living in the Tilghman Elementary School District, and has been accepted as a full-time student at an accredited technical school or a 2-year or 4-year college.

Mid-Atlantic Symphony Announces Finalists for Elizabeth Loker International Concerto Competition

The Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is pleased to announce the three finalists selected for the prestigious Elizabeth Loker International Concerto Competition (ELICC). These young musicians, chosen from around the world, will perform with the MSO on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 3:00pm at Todd Hall for the Performing Arts at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, MD. The ELICC is quickly becoming one of the most distinguished competitions worldwide for young classical musicians aged 12 to 25.
